After wising up to the fact that there is a graphic novel girl audience, DC Comics created a new division called Minx! Minx’s purpose is to cater to teen girls who read graphic novels. Their characters include “a tenacious martial artist; a rebellious detective; an ex-surf punk; a big mouth blogger and a futuristic brainiac,” and reflect the differing tastes and opinions of real teen girls.
Check out the Minx site for quizzes and descriptions of their girl-positive graphic novels: The Plain Janes, Re-Gifters, Clubbing, and Confessions of a Blabbermouth, which are or soon will be available at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.
