On Saturday, March 29, 2:00 p.m. we’ll discuss Avi’s Crispin: The Cross of Lead, a medieval adventure. When 13-year-old Crispin overhears two men plotting, he’s accused of stealing and declared a “wolf’s head” which means anyone is allowed to kill him. He flees the town where he’s always lived and runs into Bear, a juggler. Sometimes Bear is supportive but sometimes it seems he wants Crispin as his slave. Crispin owns nothing but a newly discovered name and the cross his mother gave him before she died. It’s a great book with a lot to discuss, things like freedom, identity and swordfights. Plus we’ll have snacks.
