For me, the music of the Beach Boys has always been and will always be associated with summer. I really only listen to them during the months of June, July, and August, or in the dead of winter when I’m pining for a little sunshine.
It seems like more than coincidence that Brian Wilson, the oft-called genius leader and songwriter for the group, would be born on June 20th, a day also celebrated as the summer solstice.
Early on in their career, the band focused on summer themes in their lyrics, things like surfing and cars and the beach, also things that their producers thought teenagers in the 60s wanted to listen to.

However, personally, I find more to love in the non-summer-themed songs of the group, songs about love or just plain having fun with an up-tempo beat that still begs to be listened to in warm weather and with good friends.
