You’re a Jerk

It’s almost Teen Read Week, which means teen librarians will be visiting middle schools all over Pittsburgh promoting the pleasures of recreational reading and making a few recommendations while we’re at it.

It also means, if you’re lucky enough to be a middle schooler at Pittsburgh Sterrett or Pittsburgh CAPA, you’ve probably seen me fail massively at trying to do the “jerk” — the accompanying dance to New Boyz hit new song “You’re a Jerk” (place a hold on Skinny Jeans and a Mic now!). For those of you who aren’t familiar, you can check out the video below:

One of the cool parts about what we call “new media” is that usually you can find video of the artists themselves (like Soulja Boy) explaining how to do their dances. Sure enough, with a quick Youtube search for “new boyz jerk,” I was up doing the “reject” before I knew it:

With WAMO off the air, we’re having a tough time figuring out the new songs that Pittsburgh teens are listening to, so if you have any suggestions, please let us know! We are always looking for new CDs to buy.
