Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony

The tragic death of luger Nodar Kumaritashvili earlier in the day was on everyone’s mind during the opening of the games.  The accident was a harsh reminder that these winter competitions can be very dangerous.  The Opening Ceremony was dedicated to Nodar.

Three billion people worldwide watched the Opening Ceremony on Friday night.  Did you watch it?  I watched the show and I thought that it was amazing.

As I read some of the reviews of the ceremony, I started to list some of the adjectives that were used to describe the opening of the 2010 Winter Olympics:

  • sensational
  • uplifting
  • colorful
  • moving
  • spectacular
  • memorable
  • stunning
  • dazzling
  • breathtaking
  • thoughtful
  • mournful
  • stirring
  • somber
  • strange
  • (sometimes) dull
