The 2009-2010 budget cuts impacted hours of service, staffing levels, materials purchasing, electronic resources available, and the extent of programming and outreach services.  That means:

  • less teen books like graphic novels were purchased
  • fewer staff were available to visit schools
  • less teen programming like gaming programs
  • decreased funding for PA Power Library; research databases with full-text magazine articles were cancelled

ACT NOW  and write to your state officials to advocate for increased library funding.  Tell Harrisburg: NO MORE CUTS TO LIBRARIES.

Your voice matters!  Make it heard!

Also, The Pennsylvania Library Association has launched a Facebook page called: “Pennsylvania’s 5.6 Million Library Cardholders Can’t Be Wrong.” They would love to get 10,000 supporters for the group.  Here’s the link:

Log on to Facebook, join the group, and help spread the word about libraries and the need for restored funding in 2010-11.
