Cake!!!

After accidentally writing a blog post about audio books, which duplicated a post Tessa did so much more eloquently just a few days ago, I had to start from scratch…  so I started in the best place, by asking some of the teens in the Teen Dept. at Main for ideas.

Me: “Hey, I need to write a blog post, I need some ideas!”

Eli: “Write about the World Cup!  I’m really distraught about the outcome!”

Andrew: “Write about the awesome teen name Andrew!”

Kristy: “Write about summer reading, and reading on the beach!”

Charles: (says nothing, but smiles at me while tolerating my intensity)

Zöe: “Write about cake!”

Okay.  Cake always wins.  Cake, as defined by the Oxford English Dictionary, is:  “a baked mass of bread or substance of similar kind, distinguished from a loaf or other ordinary bread, either by its form or by its composition.”  That’s a rather boring definition.  I did enjoy another definition listed: “a foolish or stupid fellow.”  But we know what cake is: tasty, sugary deliciousness.

You will be very pleased to know that the library has 198 books under the subject heading: Cake.  There are 23 books just about CUPCAKES.   Whether you prefer to look at the pictures like me, or if you actually enjoy baking (in which case you are my hero), here are some highlights from our cake-books:
