Welcome to App-land

I discovered the wonderful world of apps pretty late in the game. My phone is not smart. I don’t have an iPad. I did get an iPod touch for my birthday last year, but until recently I used it only for music and checking my email. The someone suggested that I download a game for my iPod touch to keep me busy on a flight to New Orleans and GOSH—my battery hasn’t been fully charged since.

It turns out that there are a lot of cool apps out there for book lovers.

For Reading

  • An eReader is a good place to start. There’s the Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, and even eReaders for comic books. There are many places to download ebooks for free (Stanza), and some to compare prices (Snaptell) so that you get the best deal. Once you have a library on your device, you’ll need a way to organize them (Library List).

For Finding Books

  • Local Books app – find bookstores, libraries, and book-themed events near you! *FREE*
  • Find Indie bookstores nationwide, search indie recommendation lists, buy books online from indie booksellers, and more with the IndieBound app. *FREE*

For Studying

For Socializing

  • Connect to the largest social network for readers with the Goodreads app. Huge catalog of books and user generated reviews and ratings. You can also see what your friends are reading and make recommendations. *FREE*
  • As the world’s first social eReading experience, Copia allows you to read and discuss the books you love with your friends and fellow readers. *FREE*

Just for Fun
