Record Store Day 2011

This Saturday is one of my all-time favorite “holidays” — it’s Record Store Day, the day when music lovers all across the world patronize their favorite record shops and plunk down a little bit of money for some exclusive and awesome deals. It’s a way of letting your local brick-and-mortar record shop know that you appreciate the tunes they bestow upon your life and your city.

Downloading music online is convenient and logical and quick, but if you’ve never inhaled the mixture of dust and mylar that permeates most record stores, you haven’t fully lived.

If you need a little help, here’s a list of participating music shops in Pittsburgh:

And, remember, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh has thousands upon thousands of music CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, scores, and more across all 19 locations.
