CLP QuickFLIX: teen video creation contest & workshops

“Are you the next great film director?”

I’m very happy to announce that the annual QuickFLIX video creation contest is back and better than ever! Not familiar? Here are some details about the contest and how it works:

  • Make a short film (under five minutes) using this year’s Teen Summer Reading theme “You Are Here” or teen Hear Me stories for inspiration.
  • Work on your own or in a group!
    • Team an individual entries will be accepted, though prizes for group entries must be shared.
  • Don’t know how to make a video? Sign up for a free video workshopat one of five CLP locations.
    • Workshops will be taught by video artists/instructors from Pittsburgh Filmmakers. (See “Workshops” for more information.)
  • Your video will be judged on:
    • Originality
    • Style
    • Entertainment Value
  • Don’t have a camera? Don’t worry! Talk to the teen specialist at your local Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to learn about using one of our flip cameras.
  • We will allow the filming of videos on Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh property, including inside the Library (branches and Main). For more information and usage details, contact Corey Wittig, Digital Learning Librarian – Teen Services, at 412-622-3140. You must have permission prior to filming inside the library and abide by all Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh policies!

This year, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Teen Services is partnering with Pittsburgh Filmmakers whose resident artists will be hosting two unique and informative filmmaking classes at four CLP locations. Teens who take part in these classes will leave with a QuickFLIX contest-ready movie.
