Are you looking for something to do this summer? The library can help you find it!
If you need a job, the Pittsburgh Summer Youth Employment Program (PSYEP) applications are now being accepted.
To download one, or to get more information on the PSYEP program, visit pittsburghpartnership.org. The deadline is May 15, so if you’re interested you’ll need to act fast.
You can also check out the Job & Career Education Center’s Summer Jobs page, where you’ll find websites that tend to post a lot of part-time and seasonal jobs and internships. We’re especially fond of Indeed.com, which was recently declared to be the best online source of job openings.
If money isn’t the only thing you’re looking for in a summer activity, you might want to look at the Job Center’s Internship page, the Teen Summer Camps and Pittsburgh STEM Activities page, or the website Pittsburgh Kids Programs, which lets you search for summer camps and educational programs for people aged 2-24.
Applications are also being accepted right now for the City of Pittsburgh’s second Youth Civic Leadership Academy (YCLA). This is a free six-week course designed to educate high school students about the inner-workings of City government. The deadline is May 31.
If you still aren’t sure what to do this summer, or if you have any questions about one of these opportunities, don’t hesitate to ask someone at your library. You can also call, email, or visit the Job & Career Education Center at the Main branch in Oakland.
