Readers of the blog may recall the story of a certain peculiar chair that crept its way into CLP-Carrick eight months ago. Back in the wintry darkness of December, the seemingly ordinary wooden chair mysteriously appeared outside the doors of the library at closing one night. When library staff left it on the curb with the trash, they were bewildered to find it waiting for them the next morning. Eventually, it was adopted by the Teen Space & branded with an ominous warning for idle sitters.
Haunted by the chair and its unknown origins, the illustrious teens of CLP- Carrick were inspired to tell the story of the sinister seat. And now, their original cinematic masterpiece is coming to a library near you…
More than 30 teens spent the first part of the summer lending their talents as writers, actors, musicians, costumers, and cinematographers to create some macabre movie madness. The result? CHAIRPOCALYPSE, the gruesome tale of the evil-spirit-possessed chair and its dark and dangerous secret (SPOILER ALERT: It eats people).
The short movie follows a group of friends as they watch the weirdest YouTube video ever. Now you, too can be part of the perplexing horror, because CHAIRPOCALYPSE is officially in post-production, just days away from its world premiere.
CLP- Carrick (1811 Brownsville Road) will host screenings of CHAIRPOCALYPSE beginning August 5th. Join the cast and crew for this exclusive event and support the creative lunacy of your fellow Pittsburgh teens. There will be popcorn. And lots of fake blood. And it’s all FREE.
